SUMMARY:The Way Forward + Brains Trust
DESCRIPTION:Click on event to see more…A discussion on “The Way Forward”. The informal agenda will consider points that were made by those who were able to attend the January meeting. Such aspects as the name and structure of the group\, the style and timing of meetings\, the subject matter of possible talks and the choice or nomination of a speaker (even from our ‘in-house’ resources!) will need to be decided. \nIf there is time we will be holding a small ‘Brains Trust’ on local matters; and any other that people are interested in. \n£1 entry + £1 Wine Raffle \nCake and Coffee as usual. \nMinutes of Men’s Fellowship Meeting for January \n  \nLast meeting at the Lamb \n  \nWe met last time at the Lamb to discuss the Men’s Fellowship.  There were a few apologies for absence\, possibly as it was just after Christmas. However\, for those who arrived there was a lot of spirited interest and ideas were generated about what we would be interested in discussing and hearing about. I know it’s the cake and the coffee…. ‘What you put in then it’s what you will get out’.  I have listed the points we discussed and general people’s views. There were 5 of us\, we wanted to involved more people in the discussion\, hence in February…. \n  \nTo do this the February meeting will consist of: – \n  \n7:30 -> 8:00 pm chat / networking with coffee and cake. \n8.00 -> 8:45 pm Discussion about the creation of a support group ( not committee ) and the following points of interest \n8:45-> 9:30 pm Brains Trust in the round. One person speaks at a time. General local issues and anything that is relevant. If any of the following points looks like it needs further discussion then it will be discussed here. \n  \nStructure of meeting \n  \nSome felt that the present method of having a short networking time ½ hour and then 1-1/2 hour talk and finish with questions at 9:30 at little too long. Concern was raised about the amount of noise during a speaker’s talk. \n  \nCommittee v Support group. \n  \nSorry but  we have to have someone who can be contacted and that person will need support. If we are using the support group method\, with no official positions\, accounts and money have to be lodged with the Office on a meeting basis. I guess a cash pot can be kept.  People help where necessary.  This must be discussed. We have to have volunteers. \n  \nChristian prayers for start and finish. \n  \nIs there a sufficient Christian focus\, do we try to outreach to other men’s fellowships etc. \n  \nTalk interests and persons who can do them. \n  \nEverybody must try to suggest a person or event and then if they know them and the group want to go ahead\, then ask that person if they would be interested in giving a short chat. It must not be left to one person to do this. We can’t afford to pay for big names; but it’s our experience that it’s the passion of the speaker rather than the status that counts. I think we want people to allow us to discuss and be involved. It’s important to emphasise that that it is a friendly society and speakers will be given as much support as they need. \n  \nApril meeting cannot be in Hall \n  \nThe Hall is going to be redecorated in April so whatever we do must be relocated elsewhere. \n  \nMarch’s Meeting \n  \nMichael will be talking about his involvement in the emergency Romanian Orphanage supply convoy. \nThis will be on March 7th 7:30pm in the Church Hall. \n  \nCake rota and coffee rota \n  \nWe need to have a rota of interested Cake suppliers catering for say 15 people. Please let me/us know who can be help. If monetary help is needed then that is fine. \nPaul’s wife Carol will provide cakes for February 7th and Alison\, my wife\, will do it on the 7th March. It doesn’t just have to be the wives !! \n  \nThe coffee and Tea rota is currently being sorted by Keith\, who is doing an excellent job. However he needs help on occasions. This must be discussed. \n  \nWordsmith and marketer required. \n  \nHelp for advance info for SeeSight and Pew sheet… Please \n  \nEntrance fee + Wine Raffle \n  \nAt the moment we have a £1 entrance fee with a £1 wine raffle. This really should go up to £2 especially if we want to attract some speakers. \n  \nDon’t be afraid to complain. \n  \nPossible talks \n  \nWe discussed: – \n  \n\nRed Arrows again?\nFocus on Local Area\nCook a curry / signature dish\nFuneral directors – options and planning a virtual funeral service in advance\nFlat Pack Dan / DIY expert for those difficult DIY conundrums or equivalent\nSussex Geological Society\nHolidays abroad – possibly Australia / New Zealand? / Old Singapore\nBellringing\, look out two\, trebles going…gone…\nFire Service / Lifeboat\nRugby at national level.\nYour camera – simple tricks at getting good photos for family\, landscape\, macros..\nDeath Café ???\n\n  \nPlease contact. \n  \n  \nBill Dodd 01903 752379 \n07786914795

SUMMARY:Hair of the Dog - General Networking
DESCRIPTION:Hair of the Dog – General Networking – Lamb 7:30 in Rustington near the St Peter and St Pauls church. \n. As mentioned at the last meeting we said that there would not be a formal meeting in January. There is an evening of discussion / refreshment at the Lamb ( Near St Peter and St Pauls) in Rustington tomorrow night at 7:30pm. No Wine Draw I’m afraid \, but no cost 😊 \n  \nApart from the pleasure of seeing you all it would be good to discuss the following points in an informal way:- \n  \n\nWe need to remove the ‘Formerly’ from our groups name. So a committee or leading group is needed to be reformed. Action people required…\nWe need to get ideas for meetings? Eg Tips  how to do the difficult areas of DIY like hanging doors etc. Tips and advice on how to take photographs\, perhaps people bringing their favourite photos. Maybe just a networking discussion evening.\nWe need to put together a providers list for the cakes and offer more help to Keith and John.\nLet me know of any email addresses that we need to add to the mailing list.\n\n  \nLoads of needs.. Michael is going to give us a talk in March about the Convoy he was involved with to provide help to Romanian Orphanages and Hospitals. \n  \nCome and discuss or if you can’t make it please email back. 😊 \n  \nHappy New Year to you all \n  \nBill Dodd \n  \n
