Alistair Byford-Bates, Senior Marine Archaeologist for Wessex Archaeology and is the Historic Environment Fisheries Liaison Officer implementing the Fishing Industry Protocol for local archaeological discoveries. He Will give a talk on ‘Nets, Wrecks and Artefacts‘
He is an expert in the assessment of 19th- 20th century merchant and naval ships, and ordnance and have previous experience in human remains processing and disaster management services.
There’s more to what comes up in fishermens nets than fish!
