Bill Dodd – Wednesday 5th May 7:30pm – Fred Dibnah MBE BAFTA – Miner – Celebrity and (any excuse…) Traction Engines..
May 5, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Frederick Travis Dibnah, MBE (29 April 1938 – 6 November 2004) was an English steeplejack and television personality, with a keen interest in mechanical engineering, who described himself as a “backstreet mechanic”. When Dibnah was born, Britain relied heavily upon coal to fuel its industry. Who loved his Traction Engines …
He became a celebrity after his first BBC series…A Year with Fred.
Bill will give a short precis on his life followed by a documentary about Traction Engines and their usage from the Victorian times. How they revolutionised farming and made British farm engineering the first in the world.
