Talk by Brian Freeland – Bohemian Paris – Artists, Painters ..stories beyond the books …
March 1 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
£2At the Church Hall.
An earlier talk, LITERARY PARIS, reminded viewers of the city’s writers; this new Presentation, BOHEMIAN PARIS, covers those painters, performers and composers active at a time when, according to Henry Murger, “Bohemia only exists and is only possible in Paris”.
The Irish author George Moore (above, sketched by Manet) introduces us to the ‘bohemian’ Impressionist painters; we then glimpse the ’historical’ Bohemians before moving on, inevitably perhaps, to Puccini’s opera La Boheme based on Henry Murger’s book ‘Scenes de la Vie Boheme’.
So please come along. You know Brian the Actor, Raconteur and researcher. It will be fun.
For the people who come to the hall. £2 entrance and £1 wine / voucher prize draw at entrance. I will try to record the talk for Bone Fide members but you I admit that we do have trouble with the sound etc. Best to come along
Refreshments and cake will be available.
